I bought this fisherman back in the summer of 2000, it
would be a great companion piece to a single tree penjing or Bald Cypress bonsai, it has some very good detail.
This old mud man was purchased over a decade ago, my original intent was
to display it with an old juniper bonsai.
This unique mud figure once belonged to the great Vaughn Banting,
world renowned Bonsai artist from Louisiana , he was famous for creating the flat top style of Bald Cypress Bonsai currently
on display at the National Bonsai Arboretum in Washingtom D.C.
This old fisherman was very unique, It has a spot reserved for display
alongside my Bald Cypress Bonsai that I grew from seed over a decade ago, its over 18" inches tall and has been in training
for about 5 years.
I like these strange looking mudfigures, they add an element of interest
as display companions to old gnarly bonsai trees.
I bought a whole box of these mudfigures with bonsai 10 years ago, they
were 2" inch and one inch tall figures, a six pack of each.
This little guy is just about 2 inches tall, these are are common items, especially
the modern versions, seems like every collector I know has at least one of these.
Modern mud figures posed like this are common, I purchased this one
at an online auction for about $10.00 back in 2002.
